Jeremiah Chapter 2
I Remember When My Faith Was Strong.
God tells Jeremiah what to say to the people of Jerusalem. “I remember the devotions of love and commitment you once had as a youth. You were a holy people. You gave me your first fruits from the harvest.” But now, the Lord says, you have strayed so far from me. Even your priests and Prophets do not seek me nor speak my words of truth. You no longer are appalled by sin nor do you shudder in fear of what awaits you. You say, “I love foreign gods and I must go after them.” You will never find complete fulfillment in the things of the world. Complete fulfillment will only be found through Christ.
What if I followed every lust of my flesh? What if my love and commitment for the Lord diminished? How will it affect those who look up to me? There would be harsh consequences. Some of my family members and Friends would walk away from the Lord. Or would never think God was worth pursuing. Don’t let your faith be something that “Used to be.” Let it always be present and current. If not, there will be consequences. It will affect some of your family members and some of your friends. People who look up to you, your children, spouse, parents, close friends, etc, will often emulate what you do. If you have a strong faith, they will follow your strong faith. If you have a sloppy faith, they will emulate that as well.
