Jeremiah Chapter 19
Things Are Progressively Getting Worse.
God is angry at the sin of Judah because things have progressively gotten worse. They began to sacrifice children on the altar. They didn’t just wake up one day and all of a sudden start to sacrifice their children. It was a slow process. The slower the process the more you can get people to accept sin.
Think of sin today that was once abhorrent, but is now acceptable or becoming more acceptable. There are no more morals and absolute truths. Science and logic is no longer what drives truth but one’s emotions. Whatever you think is truth is truth.
What TRUTH are we going to stand up for? The world’s truth? Or God’s truth which goes against the grain of our society? Both have eternal consequences. God is looking for people to raise up and fight a battle, not with weapons, but with divine power (II Corinthians 10:4-5) driven by love. A love that points people to Christ, the message of hope which people lack today. He’s looking for those willing to stand up for TRUTH no matter what the consequences.
GOD, fill me with your love and truth that I live it, proclaim it, and stand up for it. I pray that it impacts our world and helps point others to Jesus.
