Jeremiah Chapter 15
Loneliness Is Painful.
Following Christ can be very lonely at times. Jeremiah is living and speaking God’s truth to a rebellious people and they lash back at Jeremiah because they don’t want to repent of their sins.
Jeremiah calls out to God saying, remember me and care for me. Save me from my persecutors. I love your word and my heart delights in them. I stay away from sinful people. I’m often lonely because I choose to follow you and your word. I am in pain.
There is nothing attractive about what Jeremiah is going through. Yet in his time of persecution and pain God reminds him not to give up and says to Jeremiah, “I am with you.” Knowing these words should be enough but is it? As lonely as we may feel, we are never alone. Don’t let your feelings overcome you, rather let God’s truth overcome your feelings. Hold on to God’s truth no matter what. Even if it means going to the grave because of your faith in the Lord Jesus. Jeremiah found delight and joy in the word of God. May we also find delight and joy in the word of God even amongst our loneliness.
