Jeremiah Chapter 13
Which Way Does Your Heart Lean? Humility or Pride?
God instructs Jeremiah to buy a linen belt and put it around his waist but not let it touch water. Later, Jeremiah was told to hide the belt in the crevice of the rocks. Many days later he was instructed to go and get the belt. When he did, the linen belt was ruined and completely useless. Then the Lord said, this is what I will do to Judah and Jerusalem who refuse to listen to me. I will completely ruin their pride and they will become useless.
God says, “Pay attention!” My wrath will be harsh so humble yourself and give glory to God or else face my wrath.
Judah was a very prideful Nation. They felt they did not need God.
Pride says it’s all about me.
Humility says it’s all about God.
Pride says, hey everybody look at me, I’m awesome. Give me Glory and Honor.
Humility says, look at God and be sure to give him all the glory and all the honor.
Where is your heart? Does it lean more towards Pride or Humility? The last thing I want to become is “useless.”
