Jeremiah Chapter 12
God, This Is Not Fair!
If you remember, in Chapter 11:18-19, the people that Jeremiah prophesied against, were plotting to kill him. In chapter 12, Jeremiah shares his frustration with God. He feels life is not fair because while he is struggling even for his life, the wicked people seem to prosper and have an easy life.
In verse five, God responds to Jeremiah by saying, rather than look at what you’re going through as unjust, look at it as a testing ground. I’m preparing you for something bigger. If you can’t handle the situation you’re in now, how will you handle the situation when it gets harder?
May we all learn from this. God is always at work in our lives: preparing us, equipping us, and wanting to empower us. So stand firm in the faith and rather than question God, pray for his empowerment to persevere and endure this test so you can be better equipped for what is yet to come. Embrace it knowing that God is with you and you do not have to fear.
Dear Lord, sometimes life seems unfair. Rather than complain, help me to grow spiritually and mentally through the test you place before me. And help me trust you to the end! Amen!
