Jeremiah 38:14-28 Part 2
Overcoming Fear Means New Opportunities For The Lord
King Zedekiah, of Judah, sent for Jeremiah to hear from the Lord. But Jeremiah was hesitant to share for fear the king would kill him and not listen to him. But King Zedekiah was in a desperate state and secretly gave an oath that he would not kill Jeremiah nor have him killed. So Jeremiah shared the words of the Lord: If the king surrendered to the Babylonians, he and his family would live. But if he didn’t, he would be captured, and killed, and the Babylonians would burn the city down. Kings Zedekiah struggled with this prophecy because he was afraid of what would happen to him, but Jeremiah assured him, “Obey the Lord and it will go well with you.”
Satan loves to invoke fear in our lives. When God is calling us to do something, we can’t let fear inhibit our acts of obedience. We have to learn to rebuke the devil, and the lies he puts in our mind, and do so in the name of Jesus. We can’t forget the authority Jesus gives us to be victorious and overcomers. There are lives out there in need of the message of Jesus. Living in Fear means missing opportunities to impact lives for the Lord.
Lord, I rebuke the fear and doubts in my mind so I don’t miss opportunities to impact lives for you. Use me, even in new ways I never thought of. Help me trust you.
