James Chapter 3
HEY! Watch your Mouth!
James starts right off by saying, “Not many of you should become teachers….” If someone said that to me, I would feel insulted. But it’s a reminder of how important it is to know the Truth, to be in the Truth, to study the Truth. And when I say Truth, I mean the Word of God, the BIBLE. And because it’s God’s Word, we will be judged more strictly on how we present his Word. Therefore, we can’t let what we share about faith to be based upon our emotions. To do so will get us in trouble because Truth has nothing to do with emotions. That’s why we see Christians and churches walking away from the Word of God. For example, so that one doesn’t offend the emotions of another, they accept more than one way to get to heaven because their emotions won’t allow them to believe that their good friend or relative will spend eternity in hell without Christ. Or if one’s relative is gay, rather than try to love them to Jesus in repentance, they tell their relative that their lifestyle is okay. Everything has centered around our emotions but God’s word cannot be compromised, so be careful on what you say! Stop and think through your words. Do they contradict God’s Word? Please, don’t just read God’s word! Know it! Study it! Teach it! Live it!
