Isaiah Chapter 64
Lord, I’m Tired Of Being In Control.
Vs 1-2: The nation pleads for the Lord to come and rescue them and cause their enemies to shake in fear.
Vs 3: They’ve seen him do it before. Vs 4-5: They acknowledge that there is no God but the Lord and that he will respond to those who wait for him and obey him. But because of their disobedience, God’s anger is aroused and he does not save them.
Vs 6: They recognize that they are unclean and that even their most “righteous acts” are like filthy rags before God. Vs 7: Sadly, the nation no longer CALLS ON THE LORD nor do they STRIVE for him.
Vs 8: The truth is, we are but clay before the Lord and He is the Potter. If we allow him, he will mold us into the person he wants us to be.
Vs 9-12: But because of their sins, the nation has become a wasteland and desolate.
The nation of Israel quit calling on the Lord and quit striving for him. They wanted to be in control of their own lives and do as they please. But what about us? Let us not be so arrogant to think it can’t happen to us. Do we call on the Lord like we used to? Do we strive for him with all our heart, soul, mind, and strength? Do we have memories of when our lives were more committed to the Lord and He was using us to reach people for Jesus? Be careful if you are one who says, “No, not me!” It happens to us all (more often than we think). The question is, what we you going to do about it? Respond with Arrogance or Humility?
Arrogance says, “I’m okay!” Yet the work of the Holy Spirit in your life is not evident like it used to be. The fruits of you the Spirit are missing. You find yourself compromising your faith in areas you said you never would.
Humility says, “Lord, I’m sorry! I’m tired of trying to be in control of my life. Forgive me! Change me! Mold me into the person you want me to be. Keep me committed to you, to the church, to Christian Fellowship, so I can carry out your will so my life is transformed and lives are impacted around me for you. May I daily CALL ON YOU and STRIVE for you and your Word! Amen!”
