Isaiah Chapter 57
“Stop Mocking Me!”
No one likes to be mocked or made fun of. No one likes to feel less than they really are, or be made fun of for who they are.
In Matthew 27:29 the soldiers put a crown of thorns on Jesus’s head and knelt down and said “Hail to the King.” They mocked Jesus. He was a king and he is a king but they treated him as if he wasn’t.
In this chapter, the people mocked God by living a life as if God didn’t really exist. They did whatever evil they wanted and did not fear God. They mocked him.
Got declares his coming wrath which they should fear. In fact it should drive them to having a broken and contrite heart before God. The Lord said that his dwelling place is in the heart of a broken and contrite person. He says it’s that kind of heart that he revives, heals, guides, and restores, resulting in praises once again coming from their lips to the Lord.
Have you ever mocked God? Galatians 6:7 says that God will not be mocked and whoever mocks him will get what they deserve.
Instead of mocking God, let us bring to him a broken and contrite heart and see what great things he does in and through us.
