Isaiah Chapter 55
God’s Invitation: Seek and Surrender.
Vs 1-2: God is giving an INVITATION to all who are thirsty, and hungry, and without money. He’s offering an everlasting covenant which he promised to David. Just as God blessed David and showed Mercy, God is also wanting to bless us through a relationship with his son Jesus.
Vs 6: We are called to SEEK the Lord and may we do so with all our hearts.
Vs 7: This verse is a picture of SURRENDER for God is calling the people to turn to the Lord (surrender) and turn from their sins. Surrender is not just stopping a bad habit, but it involves giving the Lord your whole life so that you live your life His way and not your way.
Vs 8-9: God’s way is best! What we see in our lives and in our future is very limited. We see only one piece of the puzzle while God can see the whole picture. So when we surrender we are giving God full reign of our lives. It’s too easy to get stuck in our way of thinking. We would be very smart to trust God and let him do it his way and not ours.
