Isaiah Chapter 47
Our Agenda or God’s Agenda?!?
God prophesied against Babylon saying a day is coming when he will take his vengeance upon them because of their sin. He will spare no one. Since they were a child they focused on a life of magic spells and sorceries. They oppressed Israel and showed no mercy, not even for the aged. They put trust in their wicked ways. They sought wisdom that would enhance their selfish agenda versus seeking wisdom from God for his glory and his agenda. In their arrogance, they proclaimed that no harm could fall upon them. God declared that calamity and catastrophe will fall upon them, and no one will be able to save them from his coming wrath.
I pray we can learn from this because one day God’s judgment WILL come. If selfishness is our focus, then beware. Whose power do we rely upon to sustain us each and every day? Do we oppress or ignore the needs of the elderly? Do we seek wisdom from God so we can make choices that please him and bring glory to his name? Or do we focus on seeking wisdom that enhances our agenda? Are we so arrogant that we think we can live a life focused on our flesh desires that we conclude that no harm will ever come upon us?
Let us each evaluate our lives and determine if it is all about our agenda or God’s agenda? Then make the necessary adjustments because when God’s wrath comes, no one will be able to save us from his coming wrath.
