Isaiah Chapter 40
Prepare Your Heart For The Lord!
Here’s another prophecy that speaks of the coming Savior, Jesus! God declares: “Comfort my people by telling them that their sins have been paid for.” There will be a voice of a man in the wilderness who will come and say, “Prepare the way of the Lord.” This man, John the baptist, will point people to Jesus. He will say, “Here is your God [Savior]!”
This Savior will be mighty and powerful. There will be no one who compares to him. Yet, many people will make and worship idols instead. Honestly, how can we worship or serve anything over the Lord God Almighty, the “Creator of the ends of the earth”? May we all put our hope in the Lord. He will restore and give us strength. We will be able to stand and endure through any situation.
We read the fulfillment of this Scripture in both Mark 1 and John 1. And just as people were making idols during this prophecy, so today, people are making idols. Sports is just one example of today’s idols. Families are demanded to invest a lot of time in sports, and as a result, Sunday church has become neglected.
Relationships are often exalted over God. One teenager came to a school Ministry every Wednesday at school. Then she got a boyfriend and now is influenced not to attend anymore.
Have we let relationships become more important than the Lord?
Search Your Heart. Has an idol crept in? Do we love the Lord Our God with all our heart, soul, mind, and strength? Or has something or someone else taken his place?
God, help me not love anything or anyone more than you. Instead, help me point others to Jesus just like John the Baptist did! Amen!
