Isaiah Chapter 36:1 – 37:20
Rely on the Lord for Your Battles
The king of Assyria attacked and captured all the fortified cities of Judah and then threatened them and mocked them; he mocked the Almighty God saying that he could not defeat Assyria. He did all he could to promote fear among the Jews and hatredness toward their King, King Hezekiah. When King Hezekiah heard what the king of Assyria was saying, he went before the Lord in Brokenness and Humility. He laid himself out before the Lord, crying and praying God would intervene and defeat the king of Assyria for mocking them and for mocking God himself. God responded to the king saying he would defeat the Assyrians.
May we learn from King Hezekiah. When we face tough situations in life, are we in hyper mode to try and take care of our problem ourselves? Or are we drawn before the Lord, broken and laid out before him? Do we pray for his intervention? Are we drawn closer to the Lord or do we run away and try and do things on our own? I pray we take the approach of King Hezekiah. Let us be broken before God and humbly laid out before him praying for his intervention.
