Gossip Kills!
When you hear gossip, be careful what you do until you have the whole story. David continues to be in hiding from Saul, who was trying to kill him. Then his family and friends came to support David so that David ended up with 400 men willing to fight for him.
Saul had heard that the priest Ahimelech had given food to David and a sword. Saul assumed the priest did it so David could fight against Saul and kill him. But in reality, Ahimelech thought David was on a special assignment in helping Saul.
Saul made in inaccurate assumption not having all the facts surrounding what was going on. But because he assumed, he ended up having Ahimelech and 84 other priests killed along with their families and their animals.
Saul slaughtered a lot of people all because of his false assumption. What about us? If we hear gossip about someone, are we quick to join in on the gossip real quick to say or do something against the person being gossiped about? There are truly two sides to every story and if you only hear one side then you don’t have the whole true story. Remember, Gossip Kills, so don’t get sucked into it. Don’t believe everything you hear until you have heard all the facts.
