Genesis Chapter 50
What Is Your Heart Dwelling On?
When Joseph’s father, Israel, died all of Israel’s family and all of Egypt mourned for his death for 70 days. After his burial in Canaan, Joseph’s brother feared that Joseph would hold a grudge against them and pay them back for all the evil they did to him. So they sent a messenger to Joseph saying their father wanted him to forgive them for the evil they did. Then they came to him and said we will be your servants, in hopes to ensure no harm would come to them. But instead, Joseph did not hold a grudge and said “What you meant for evil, God meant it for good so that lives would be saved (physically from the famine).
Question: are we grudge holders against those who hurt us in any way? Or are we forgivers? Perhaps we should look at evil done to us as an opportunity for God to use it so lives could be saved spiritually. Rather than take an evil event and dwell on how you can get revenge, instead let us take it to God in prayer and dwell on how God could use the situation to impact lives for HIM!
