Genesis Chapter 47
Respect and Be Respected.
There’s a lesson that can be learned from this chapter on respect.
1. Joseph was a godly man who loved the Lord and respected him. The result equaled God finding favor with Joseph and blessing him.
2. Joseph respected Pharaoh and the result equaled Pharaoh finding favor with Joseph and treating him with great respect and with many blessings. Pharaoh even blessed all of Joseph’s family.
As we battle between selfishness and respect or arrogance and respect, let us choose respect every time. Don’t do it so you are “treated favorably,” but do it because of the love you have for others. And often times, even years later, you find people wanting to love and respect you back.
So as you venture out of bed today, how can you show love and respect to God, your spouse, children, parents, teachers, authority figures, boss, person on the street, etc? Then do it! This world will be a better place. Have a respectful day!
