Genesis Chapter 44
I Come To Your Defense.
Things are about to get ugly again. The 10 brothers of Joseph were treated with royalty, but then their lord (Joseph) is about to frame their youngest brother Benjamin so that it looks like he stole something from their lord. Their lord (Joseph) said Benjamin would now be his slave and the rest could go home free.
The one brother, Judah, comes to the defense of Benjamin. He approaches the Lord and respectfully ask to speak a WORD in his Lord’s EAR. The Hebrew word for WORD and EARS is implying Judas desire to speak so as to give Joseph his Lord a new understanding of what’s really going on in hopes of changing the mind of his Lord.
When’s the last time we ever came to someone’s defense out of love or respect for the individual?
Better yet, when is the last time we came to the defense of Christ Our Savior?
1 Peter 3:15 says, “But in your hearts always set apart Christ as Lord. Always be prepared to give an answer to everyone who asks you to give a defense for the reason for the hope that you have [in Christ]. But do it with gentleness and respect.”
Are we ashamed of our faith in Christ? Do we, out of love and respect for another, ever dare to share Christ with others in hopes of helping change the thought process of those opposing Christ?
