Genesis Chapter 43

What In The World Is Going On?

The sons of Jacob needed to return to Egypt to buy more grain because of the severe famine. And they knew they couldn’t return and get any food unless Benjamin, the youngest brother, came with them. Jacob, the father, did not want this to happen for fear he would lose Benjamin like he lost Joseph. He finally broke down and let Benjamin go with the other brothers to get grain. They did not know Joseph was the Egyptian in charge of selling grain. I’m certain they were full of fear of the unknown. I’m sure they were thinking they were in trouble for still having the money in their bags from the last trip, or fearing of death. But when they arrived they were treated with great compassion and love from Joseph. They were treated like a king being allowed to wash themselves and had a great meal before them.

I’m sure they were confused and wondering what in the world is going on? The fear of the unknown!

Isn’t that life for all of us?

The fear of the unknown. Things are going terribly, and then things seem to turn around favorably, only to later meet yet another obstacle in life that puts us into a world of worry and fear.

Don’t let your circumstances dictate whether or not you have faith in God. Because we don’t know what’s going on, and because we can’t see the future, we worry. But God knows the big picture and he knows what’s going on. He’s always at work during the good and the bad situations. Always at work!! So let us learn to be faithful in and through all circumstances, both good and bad.

So have a good day with Jesus even if circumstances say it’s a bad day!
