Genesis Chapter 42
Guilt Can Last Forever!
In this chapter, the 10 Brothers of Joseph meet him face to face in Egypt while getting grain for food. Although they don’t recognize him, Joseph recognizes them and treats them harshly yet with hidden compassion. The 10 Brothers have a conversation amongst themselves how God is now punishing them for the guilt of what they did to their brother. For years it has eaten at them. It’s something they have to live with every day.
Guilt can last forever but the good news is that in Christ, because of the work at the cross, our sins can be forgiven and forgotten and cast away and remembered no more. Romans 8:1 says that there is no condemnation for those who are in Christ. Are you struggling with guilt? Take it to the Lord and let him forgive you and remove the guilt. If you need to be reconciled with someone, then be reconciled by going to the person and talking to them.
Don’t let Satan influence you to live in guilt. There is forgiveness!
