What Are We Passing On To Our Kids?
As we look at the births and blood lines of Cain, Abel, and Seth, we see how important it is to promote Christ to our kids.
Able was killed by Cain out of jealousy so his bloodline ended.
Cain was a murderer and we see five generations later his relative Lamech was also a murderer and even bragged about it. Cain’s lack of commitment to the Lord was passed down from generation to generation.
It isn’t until Seth is born that we see the people beginning to call again on the name of the Lord.
What kind of commitment are you passing down to your children? Get ready, because more than likely that’s the same type of commitment you’ll see passed on to them. It’s hard work and requires portraying Christ in all aspects of our lives. We have to live in such a way that our kids see Christ in us and see how we respond to life situations. It’s hard work and requires going against the grain of life. It’s being different from the majority. It’s making decisions for the welfare of your kids that would look weird to non-believers. But it’s worth it and the rewards are eternal. It can be a lonely life but the benefits outweigh the consequences.
