Genesis Chapter 39
God Is With Me!!
Joseph is placed in the hands of Potiphar, Pharaoh’s head bodyguard. Potiphar could see that God was with Joseph and that whatever he did he was blessed. So Potiphar put Joseph in charge of all he owned including his house. Potiphar’s wife was infatuated with Joseph and kept pleading for him to have sex with her. But he said to do such a thing would be evil and would be a sin against God.
Yet Potiphar’s wife was persistent and when Joseph entered the house with no other men there, she grabbed His garment and demanded he lie with her, but he turned and ran leaving his garment in her hand. In anger, Potiphar’s wife told him that Joseph tried to have sex with her and she screamed and scared him away. In anger, Potiphar put Joseph in jail. But once again God was with Joseph and let whatever he did prosper. So the cheif jailer put Joseph in charge of all the prisoners.
Joseph was faithful and loyal to the Lord, and God was with him no matter if circumstances were wonderful or were horrible! May we remember, always, that God is with us no matter if our circumstances are good or bad. I admire that Joseph was faithful to God even when tempted by Potiphar’s wife. Joseph even ran from her temptation. Sometimes, we need to just run from temptations versus flirting with it. Remember, sin is an act against God so stay faithful to the Lord, to the church, and to your devotions, and to your fellow Christian friends. Help encourage each other to walk faithfully with the Lord!
