Genesis Chapter 36
Have You Left A Mark For Jesus?
A record of Esau is given, listing his three wives from Canaan and his five sons. Then they mention the five sons and their wives and children.
Then they mention a record of the Kings and Chiefs that reigned in their land, called Edom, the Edomites.
Of all the names mentioned, not once did the writer stop and say anything spiritually significant about any of the generation of sons daughters, husband wives, or anything significant about the leaders, the chiefs and kings.
Usually when they list names in the Bible, they’ll take a pause and highlight the life of one of the god-fearing, committed followers of the Lord (for example, Jabez in I Chronicles 4:9-10). But we get none of that here.
For years I have prayed that wherever God calls me I want Him to use me to impact lives for the kingdom. I don’t want to be just an “average” servant of the Lord, meaning that I’m going through the routines and traditions of the church. I don’t want to lose passion, heart, conviction, or lose a broken heart for the Lost. I want the Holy Spirit to truly empower me for service. I want lives impacted for the kingdom.
I want that for all of us that no matter what our occupation is that we make a commitment to NOT BE just another Furniture Store owner, not just another farmer, not just another contractor, not just another fast food server, not just another teacher, not just another stay home parent, etc etc etc.
You see where I’m going with this?
I want my/our lives to be God’s tool to help point people to Jesus.
I’m not looking for my name to be exalted, but I am looking to be God’s tool that helps exalt our Lord Jesus.
