Don’t Let Your Past Control Your Future!

The hour of Jacob meeting Esau face to face has come. It’s funny how the brothers’ two perspective of their meeting were so different.

Esau, even though he was deceived by Jacob years ago, went to meet his brother with great excitement and even took 400 men with him to this proud moment and happy reunion.

On the other hand, because Jacob’s guilt of his deception never went away, saw this reunion has nothing but a possible death wish. He lived with so much fear and worry that it affected how he treated this reunion and treated his family and servants.

Jacob’s head was in a state of humility while referring to himself as Esau’s servant and still fearful of what Esau may do to him in revenge.

God was offering forgiveness and love, and restoration to the relationship, but Jacob was not there. Even after the excitement from Esau and all the favor he showed his brother, Jacob still let the guilt of his past dictate his future. Jacob still was fearful of what may happen to him.

We can’t let our past control our future!!! When God offers his love and forgiveness, he also offers restoration so that we can boldly and confidently enter back into Ministry and servithood with our heads up. When we listen to the lies of the devil we never fully are restored and we function with our heads down, thus missing opportunities to impact lives for the Kingdom.
