Genesis Chapter 28.
I Hate You and God!
How do you respond when somebody hurts you or deceives you?
Jacob and Rebekah deceived Esau and Isaac.
Esau becomes so full of hate that he vows to kill his brother Jacob.
When Esau finds out his dad wants Jacob to marry an Israelite, out of spite, Esau purposely marries a non-Israelite woman. He’s mad, and sure, he may hurt his dad’s feelings, but in reality he’s letting Satan eat away his soul by giving Satan control of his heart. Esau does nothing to show he’s running to God for help. When we are hurt we have to give it to the Lord so he can give us the grace and strength to overcome these feelings of hatredness and retaliation. We need to move forward with love and forgiveness and not give Satan a foothold in our hearts.
How do you handle situations that are offensive to you? Revenge? Retaliation? Or do you run to the Lord in brokenness and by God’s grace and strength, strive forward with love and forgiveness hoping for restoration?
God, help us all to do the right thing!
