Genesis Chapter 24
Let’s Go and Let Them Go!
Abraham was about to die and called his senior servant to swear to get a wife for Isaac from his Jewish Family and not from a non-Jewish family.
We see how God’s hand was with the senior servant and opened door after door in finding the virgin woman (Rebekah) God called for Isaac.
Her family realized that God ordained this and were excited for Rebekah. But the next day, when it was time for Rebekah to go back with the senior servant to meet her future husband, her mom and brother didn’t want her to leave. They loved her and it was hard to let her go, but they did. Rebekah wanted to go.
1. Where is God calling you? Does it require leaving family and friends? Are you willing to be obedient to God’s calling?
2. Where is God calling your child or other family member? Do you love God and love them enough to let them go? Will you give them the freedom to serve the Lord wherever God calls them?
To love God is to be obedient to his call. To love God is to let others be obedient to God’s call. We have to let them go versus trying to control them to our will versus God’s will.
