Genesis Chapter 14
To God Be The Glory!
A battle broke out between five Kings from one region (which included the king of Sodom and the king of Gomorrah) against four Kings of another region.
The four Kings defeated the five Kings and took all their possessions including capturing Lot and his possessions and his people.
When Abram heard of this, he took 318 trained men at night and rescued Lot and all his possessions including his people.
The king of Sodom tried to make a deal with Abram to reward him for what he did but Abram said he would accept nothing from Sodom so Sodom could never say, “I made Abram rich.”
Abram wanted everyone, everywhere, to know that it was the Lord God most high, creator of heaven and earth, that has blessed him. In other words, he wanted God glorified and not someone else and definitely not himself.
There’s more to this than just that. It’s easy to desire more. Have power. Become prestigious. It’s easy to want to look good to others so they feel you’re awesome with no attention given to the Lord God most high, creator of Heaven and Earth.
Abram was not easily bribed nor was he power hungry, nor did he feel the desire to take more so he could have more. His life was all about giving glory to God in everything. Is that our heart and attitude?
