First Kings Chapter 5
Where’s the Joy and Honor when it comes to Serving the Lord?
King Solomon requested for help in building the Temple of the Lord from King Hiram of Tyre. King Hiram had been great friends with King David, Solomons father. So when King Solomon asked for King Hiram’s help, King Hiram was honored and excited to help and was committed to do so. So for three years this king provided cedar and cypress logs for King Solomon for the building of the Temple.
I remember when I was asked to help with the 5K run fundraiser to help support the fight against human trafficking. I was honored and excited to be asked and help with this worthy cause and put much work and effort into this fundraiser for a number of years.
I wonder how much joy and honor we exemplify when we are invited to serve the living God for the plans he has for our lives? Should that not be our biggest honor and joy, to serve the living God? What is God asking of you? Are you being obedient or are you “too busy?”
I love hunting deer, but I should me more excited and honored to serve the living God! May that be all our hearts desire!
