First Chronicles Chapter 21
Is Satan Influencing You?
It says that Satan influenced King David to count all the warriors of Israel and Judah. Pride fell upon King David which opened the door of his heart for temptation. As a result he told Joab to count all the warriors, but he warned David not to do it because it would bring guilt upon Israel. But David did not listen. After Joab gave the number of men to David, the anger of the Lord fell upon Israel. As a result 70,000 warriors died because of David’s sin.
Sometimes when we are tempted by the devil to make a decision, we argue that God told us to do it. It’s not always easy to know if God or the devil is speaking. Here’s some things to remember when you are in a situation that you’re not sure of:
1. Definitely pray to the Lord for direction and for his peace to fall upon you on what to do.
2. Examine your own heart to see if your decision is motivated by selfishness or not.
3. Listen to what others have to say. If warning signs are given then take heed to what is being said.
4. Infact, share your predicament with spiritual leaders who could give an outside perspective.
5. Don’t be quick to make a decision which could end up resulting in horrible consequences.
