First Chronicles Chapter 17
I Am Not Worthy.
David has a humbling moment with a heart of great love for the Lord God. David says to the prophet Nathan that he’s not happy that he dwells in a beautiful home while God is in a tent with curtains. David desires to build a beautiful house for God. But God tells Nathan to say to David, in essence:
1. What’s the problem? I never asked for a home. I was content in traveling from place to place with a tent to dwell in.
2. Then God speaks of all the blessings he has bestowed upon David from the time he took him as a shepherd to the time as being a king.
3. God says he will have a beautiful home built but it won’t be from David but from one of his sons.
David responds in total humility. He says, WHO AM I that you have blessed me so much? Then David is compelled to thank God for all he has done.
May we all reflect on who we were and who we are today and be humbled by all God has done for us and may we be thankful for all the Lord has done.
God, thank you on how you took me as a kid from a wonderful family, a teen who was bullied and felt alone, as a teen had a good work ethic as taught by my family, later became a Christian who’s been blessed and used to touch lives. Thank you for all you do for me, in me, and through me. I’m not worthy but you still bless me and use me. Thank you! I’ve had great experiences and some very sad and unfortunate experiences, yet all of them you have used to help me be the man of God I am today. Thank you! I do Praise you!!!
