First Chronicles Chapter 1
Maybe the Bible is True After All!
Chapter one is a genealogy from the beginning of time starting with Adam, right up to and beyond Abraham. And the genealogy mentioned in the Book of Matthew also starts with the genealogy beginning with creation, with Adam, right up till Jesus.
Why is a list of the Earth’s genealogy so important when most people look at it as merely boring information? Because it gives validity to God, to creation, to the Bible, and to history.
I think of ancestry.com when people get there blood tested in order to determine who their ancestors are and where they are from. They even find out about a missing step brother or sister or cousin. People get excited about this and from the findings of it. Actually, I think the whole thing is pretty exciting.
So, just as we trust the detailed DNA test results, let us trust God’s word, especially when it gives such great detail of whose ancestors are whose. In fact, the Bible even mentions prophecies made and fulfilled through the person of Jesus. Even prophecies made thousands of years before Jesus was born.
Such genealogies help us better understand the history of Jesus our Savior and gives credibility to the Bible!
