Ezra chapter 8
Humble Yourself and Trust God’s Leading.
As Ezra the priest left Babylon to go to Jerusalem, several Jews went with him, including priests and Levites.
Before they set out on their journey, Ezra proclaimed a fast so they would humble themselves before God and seek him for a safe journey.
Ezra was too ashamed to ask the King of Babylon for soldiers to go with them for protection because he told the king that the hand of God was upon them and that he would protect them. So he hated to ask for assistance for fear that the king would think their God really was not big enough to protect them. So they fasted and prayed and humbled themselves before God, and God protected them on their long journey to Jerusalem.
There’s a time to look to God’s creation for help, and there’s a time to say God I trust you to provide and take care of us. Here’s an example as to why we need to be connected to the Lord daily, so that we will be sensitive to the spirits leading. Often times God wants to use his creation to help us in our needs: whether it be a doctor, or somebody skilled in an area that we are not! But there are definitely those times when the spirit speaks to our hearts and says trust me and I will provide in a miraculous way.
Please do not be afraid to ask for help. That’s why we are here. But if God is speaking to your heart to trust him to do a miracle, then step out in faith and trust him. Whichever direction he leads, he should always get the praise, glory, and honor!
