Exodus Chapter 38
Are Women Allowed To Serve?
Exodus 38:8 doesn’t give a lot of specifics about the women serving, only to say, there were women who served at the doorway of the Tent Of Meeting. To me, this is admirable. No one could enter the Tent Of Meeting except the priest because this is where God resided. But to be able to serve outside the Tent Of Meeting, to me would be an honorable position. Verse 8 mentions how the women were able to do this.
Verse 8 only acts as a reminder to me of how all people, male and female, are important for the work of the Lord. Both genders bring to the table valuable talents, wisdom, and insight.
My wife, Karin, often has a perspective on things we are doing that are very much worth listening to. May we see this value in, not just our wives but all women. May we learn to hear their viewpoints versus just assuming us men are the “Almighty” ones. God uses all who are willing to be used. So it would be wise for men and women to put into practice Ephesians 5:21 where it says husbands and wives are to learn to submit themselves one to another in the fear of God.
