Exodus Chapter 34
God Re-establishes His Love Relationship.
God takes steps to show his re-established love for his people.
1. God once again wants to put his commandments on 2 stone tablets for the people to remember to follow.
2. God reminds Moses of his compassion, being gracious, slow to anger, bounding in loving kindness and Truth, a forgiver of sins, yet a punisher to the guilty. In other words, he was letting Moses know that his love still existed for the people but there are always consequences for the disobedient. May we remember that.
3. God declares that he will bless Israel if they obey his commandments and destroy all false gods.
Moses is gone again 40 days and 40 nights and when he comes down from the mountain, this time the people are very attentive to hear what he has to say versus last time they were worshiping a false god. It seems they have learned their lesson to not break Faith with God.
