Exodus Chapter 28
The Clothes Of Righteousness/Holiness!
God instructs Moses who the priests will be amongst the Israelites and gives instruction on how their garments are to be made. They are to be made by skillful people whom God calls so that the garments can be consecrated or made clean. They are to be seen by the people as attractive and honorable to the Lord.
The priest will have great responsibility when they put on these garments. They’ll be seen as ones in a position of honor and glory for the Lord. They will have a great responsibility to perform the duties of God properly and with great conviction and passion. They have to take their duties seriously because to slack and become hypocritical may result in their death. They must be holy before God when they go before the Lord with sacrifices.
Just as they’re clothes are to be holy, so are they to be holy or suffer the consequences.
Today, God is calling us to be holy and to put on the clothes of Christ which means the clothes of Holiness or Righteousness. It’s a big responsibility and people need to see God’s glory in and through our lives. This can only happen as we allow the Holy Spirit to shine through us both his love and holiness. Are you walking in a manner that gives honor and glory to the Lord? Have you put on the clothes of Christ? The clothes of Holiness and Righteousness? Are you walking in a manner that is attractive to others yet different from the world? Or when people see you do you look more like the world than you do Christ?
