Exodus Chapter 21
Stop Making Excuses.
In this chapter God gives ordinances or rules the people are to follow as it relates to slaves and personal injuries. These ordinances focus on what is fair to each person whether it be the accused or the victim of circumstances. Such ordinances are designed to hold people accountable for their actions and even for making restitution to those who have been wronged.
We all need to be held accountable for our actions. Making excuses to prevent accountability does nothing to help oneself. Once we convince someone to change the rules for us is the moment we feel rules, in general, do not apply to us. Whether it be a 5-year-old kid caught with his hands in the cookie jar, or the rapist, or the corrupt politician, if we don’t hold them accountable, then we open the door to ongoing bad and corrupt behaviors. We breed more corruption. Don’t make excuses. You’ll end up hurting yourself and possibly others in the process. Blessings!
