Exodus Chapter 20:13
“You Shall Not Murder!”
Commandment #6:
Finally, a commandment that has nothing to do with me. Well, don’t get too excited, it may be more of an issue than we think. Murder is an act that takes the lives of others. But what’s the heart and attitude that’s behind murder? Anger and Hatredness.
When I was in high school, mostly grades 9-11th, I was bullied and found myself hating those who bullied me. I would often imagine myself fighting them. A few times I did get in a fight.
We see on the news how someone who is bullied hates students and they imagine themselves killing. Some go through with it and have a shooting spree in the school.
Matthew 5:21-22, Jesus said you know that you’re not supposed to murder but he goes one step further and said anyone who is angry without cause is subject to judgment just like a murderer. 1st John 3:15 says whoever hates another person is a murderer. Because if anger and hatredness is not dealt with it can grow to destructive behaviors including murder.
Is there someone who stirs up anger or hatredness in your heart when you are around them or think of them?
I CHALLENGE you, now, to take this person to God In Prayer. Pray for them and pray for yourself. Pray God will help you forgive them and love them. Pray for them as well, but let God start with your heart first. HAVE A GOOD WEEKEND!
