Exodus Chapter 12
The Passover Lamb.
The last plague to fall upon Egypt was the plague that would result in the first born of all humans and animals to be killed. The only way they could escape the plague of death was to have the blood of the Lamb spread on their door posts and lintel. Then when the Israelites celebrated the Passover because of being saved from the plague, they ate a lamb. But only the Jews could celebrate it. If there were any non Jews with the Israelites. They could not eat it unless they became like a Jew and were circumcised.
This Passover was a prerequisite to what was to come. Jesus came as our Passover Lamb who shed his blood at the cross for the forgiveness of our sins and to save us from death in hell. Communion is to be taken as a remembrance of what he did for us. No one is to partake of it unless they are in proper standing with the Lord.
So next time you take communion, remember what Jesus did for us at the cross. He has become the Passover Lamb for our spiritual Deliverance from hell into New Life.
