You Shall Not Covet.
Commandment #10:
The Hebrew word for covet is “chamad.” Which literally means to take delight, to lust for, take pleasure in, to desire intensely, to covet. God gives examples of things we are not to covet:
1. Someone’s house.
2. Someone’s spouse.
3. Someone’s servant.
4. Someone’s donkey (car).
5. Or anything that belongs to someone else.
It’s easy to want more. Why do we want to keep up with the Jones’s? They have nice things while we struggle for simple things. Why is contentment a hard concept? Why is commitment to one’s spouse so much a challenge that people get a divorce? God forgive me when I covet another person or covet other things. Forgive me of my unfaithful thoughts. Forgive me when I let the desires of this world replace my desire for you.
Help me God be faithful to you, and to my wife through my thought life. May I invest more and more of my heart into you and into my wife. Help me learn contentment in all aspects of our lives.
