Esther Chapter 5
Stay Faithful And Trust The Lord.
In this chapter the drama intensifies. Things are happening that you think are impossible to get better.
You have Queen Esther taking her time to request from the King his mercy to the Jews and not have them killed. She does it in steps to keep building favor with the King. First step is a banquet for the king and Haman only. Remember, Haman is the one who wants all the Jews killed because of his hatredness toward Mordecai the Jew. The king finds favor in Queen Esther and asks her what her request is and she says I want to have another banquet for the king and Haman tomorrow and then she’ll give her request. The king and Haman both take delight in it.
Mordecai sees Haman as he leaves to go home and doesn’t bow to him. Even though Haman is so excited about the banquet he is miserable inside because of his hatredness toward Mordecai. So he has a gallows made that night and is going to have Mordecai hung on it in the next morning.
This leaves one wondering how in the world this could have a happy ending for Mordecai and Queen Esther since Haman is the King’s number one man?
This is when it’s important to Stay Faithful and Trust in the Lord.
Queen Esther keeps faithful to the task of saving God’s people, the Jews.
Mordecai stays faithful to the Lord by not bowing down to Haman.
Now it’s time to trust God with the outcome.
May we all stay faithful and trust God in situations that seem so impossible, including the situations we know nothing about which the devil has lurking in our midst.
