Treat A Lady With Respect.
So King Ahaserus reigned over 127 provinces and had much power and splendor. He also had a beautiful wife named Queen Vashti. So the king had a 7-Day banquet where he invited men from all over and most were men of high positions. The queen also had a 7-Day banquet which included women. During the banquet, the king arrogantly showed off his splendor before all the men. On the 7th Day, while being drunk from wine, he invited his Queen to come before the men in order to show her off. But she refused to come. This angered the king who responded by removing her as Queen and declared for the rest of her life that she could no longer enter into his presence. Plus he put out a decree to all the 127 provinces that women are to respect their husbands.
I find this interesting. I have to wonder why the queen denied his request? I can’t help but feel she didn’t respect her husband, the king, because she didn’t feel respected by him. Perhaps she didn’t want to be “paraded” before all these drunk men and feel less valued. Perhaps she would feel uncomfortable thinking the men would be focused more on her body and not on who she was as a lady on the inside.
I’m from the older generation but regardless I have to ask does my wife respect me? Or should I really be asking, do I respect my wife? A woman is more apt to respect her man if she’s feeling respected by him.
Sadly, we live in a generation where pornography is easily accessible to young kids and older. Porn is very addictive and it trains the minds of people not to respect someone of the opposite sex. So when a kid or adult looks at someone of the opposite sex, their minds are immediately driven towards their body motivated by their lusts, and not driven by respect for who the person is on the inside.
We need to learn the skills on how to treat a woman and woman has to learn how to treat a man. Both must approach each other with skills of respect for one another.
Relationships driven by respect and true love last longer than relationships driven by lusts strictly for the body and not on who the person really is on the inside.
