Ephesians Chapter 6

Obedience

There’s a lot in this chapter where we are called into obedience.

1. Children are instructed to obey their parents in the Lord. And slaves are instructed to be obedient to their masters. I may not be a slave but I have a boss who I work under. Children were instructed to be obedient to their parents in the Lord. That’s key for all of us – it must be done in the Lord and by his power and strength and not our own. Circumstances arise that make it difficult sometimes to want to be obedient but obedience is important.

2. As parents do you provide an atmosphere that helps promote obedience, not just to you but also to the Lord. Parents are instructed to raise their children up in the Lord. How’s that going?

3. As employees, we are to obey our bosses. We are to do it with respect, fear, and sincerity of the heart. We are to serve them wholeheartedly as if serving the Lord. This is the attitude we must have and less on words of disrespect and disobedience. And if you are a leader, how do you treat those under you? Are you building an environment that makes it more conducive for respect or less?

4. Obedience becomes much easier if we put on the full armor of God every day. The Word of God and Prayer are two ways we can do that. How’s that going?
