Ecclesiastes Chapter 7
You’ve Made A Good Name For Yourself.
Verse 1 says, “A good name is better than fine perfume.” So how does one make a good name for themselves? We all have made a name for ourselves. The question is, is it a GOOD or BAD name? Here are qualities that I feel help make us a “Good Name.” And might I add, these qualities are qualities that anyone can put into practice regardless of your age, the color of your skin, or how much money you do or do not have.
1. Be a TRUSTWORTHY person. If you are a trustworthy person, then you have already captivated the heart of many because trustworthy people are hard to find.
2. Be a HARD WORKER. Whatever you do, it should be done wholeheartedly (as unto the Lord). This means having a good work ethic. We live in a world today where people do not want to work. Companies are hiring 40 and 50 year olds because the younger generation has not learned what it means to have a good work ethic. A hard worker is responsible by nature. They get out of bed. They get to work on time. They work hard all day. They don’t skip work and call in sick every week.
3. Be HUMBLE. A humble person wants you to feel like you’re the best person on the face of the Earth, while the prideful person wants you to think he or she is the best person in the world. A humble person wants to see you become the best person that you can be, while the arrogant person wants you to think he or she is the best person ever, period! So which person would you want to hang out with?
These are just three qualities, but if you can Master these three then you will have made a GOOD NAME for yourself and if done for the glory of God in Jesus name, you will one day hear the Lord say, “Well done my GOOD and FAITHFUL SERVANT!”
