Ecclesiastes Chapter 12
“Remember” Your Creator!
King Solomon instructs us to “remember” our creator in the days of our youth. His call for us to “remember” is not just a truth that he wants us to hold into our minds. It’s actually a call to action. When my wife texts me, “Did you REMEMBER to set the garbage out today?” She’s not asking if my memory is good and remembered in my mind those exact words. She’s asking because she wants to know that I took action and completed the task of putting out the garbage.
So when we are instructed to “remember God our creator” there’s a call to action. Verse 13 and 14 gives the conclusion of everything King Solomon wrote. May we remember these words and put them into action. He says, “Here is the conclusion of the matter. FEAR GOD and KEEP his commandments. This is the DUTY of all humankind for God will bring every DEED into judgment, including every hidden thing, whether it is good or evil.
So if you are going to “remember your creator” then remember what he stands for. Remember what his call on your life is. Remember your value and your worth and your purpose. Don’t just remember in your mind but put it into action.
God, help me remember you, to have a fear of respect for you where I am driven into an action of obedience to you and your word. May my life be a light that shines to those around me and helps point people to Jesus. May I do it now while I still can before I reach an age where it’s difficult to do it. Amen!
