Ecclesiastes Chapter 11
Don’t Get Left Behind.
King Solomon says it’s wise to invest our assets as a way of planning for the future. The reason to plan for the future is because you never know when disaster will fall upon us so we need to be prepared.
From a financial standpoint, life is tough financially. I see the value of investing my money or in saving it. But like so many families, it’s hard to get ahead and stay afloat. I’m not complaining. God is meeting our needs and I’m thankful for that. Many families today have lost their homes or vehicles because they couldn’t keep up with the payments. This is a disaster and how do you plan for that if you’re barely staying afloat? My answers may not be great wisdom but here are three thoughts:
1. Keep pursuing God and keep trusting him to be your provider.
2. Investing money sometimes means investing into others to help meet their needs. In doing so we will get our just reward.
3. Jesus said, “A person cannot live on bread alone but by every word that proceeds from the mouth of God.” So let us not think that money or possessions is what life is all about. Yes, money is important, but investing into our relationship with Jesus brings an eternal reward. If I die with no money but have Christ into my life, I live forever in heaven. But if I have a lot of money and die without Jesus, then I have lost everything. My soul will spend eternity in hell. So yes, money is important but don’t let it become your god so that Jesus gets left behind because when Jesus comes back one day, then we will get left behind.
