Deuteronomy Chapter 8
God Has A Purpose For Our Disasters And Our Successes.
1. In this chapter God reminds us how he has a purpose for our hardships:
– – To humble us so that we are dependent upon him rather than ourselves.
– – To test us in order to see if our heart’s desire really is to follow God.
– – He allowed hunger to remind them that our ultimate survival is not contingent upon just the physical food we eat, but ultimately contingent upon the spiritual food we find in God’s Word daily.
2. God also reminds us of the purpose for our Blessings and Wealth (Successes):
– – He wants us to praise and give him thanks.
– – That we should never take credit for our success as if to say it’s by our power and strength. But rather to always give glory to God. May we never forget it’s God who enables us to work, walk, breathe, and live. At any time He could allow us to lose our sight, our arms, our legs, our mental or thinking abilities as a reminder by whose power we are able to live and function.
I praise and thank you Lord for all my successes and thank you for the hardships that help me to see my weaknesses.
