Deuteronomy Chapter 19
Here’s Some Chocolate Chip Cookies.
God declares that no one is allowed to move boundary markers. Problems can result from it.
A true story:
There was a property line between the church and a neighbor. No one ever disputed the boundary line although they weren’t thoroughly marked. The church had built an addition onto their building and there was never a dispute. After several years past, the neighbors sold their house and the new owner had a surveyor come in and established where the boundary lines were. Come to find out, a very small section of the addition of the church was on the neighbor’s property. This neighbor would have nothing to do with this building and demanded it be taken off his property. To make the long story short, they tore down a section of the addition and redid it so that it was not on the neighbor’s property. After they completed it, they had a Celebration dinner and invited the neighbor to attend. They truly wanted to love the neighbor versus hate and despise him. And they continue to invite him to church events which he has attended.
May we learn from this. If somebody seems unreasonable to us how do we respond: Gossip? Hatredness? Revenge?
May we be different with our response as followers of Christ. How about next time we bake some chocolate chip cookies and take it to them. In fact, do several acts of kindness for them over a long period of time.
Even pray for them and see what God does. I Dare You!
