Deuteronomy Chapter 13
Shun Idolatry
God commanded that if a prophet, a dreamer of dreams, a family member, or an outsider comes and attempts to persuade you to serve another god, then you are not to listen to them. God is testing to see if we truly love him with all our heart, soul, mind, and strength. God told Moses such individuals were to be put to death, for such evil should be done away with completely from their midst.
Anything that attracts us away from God has become a god to us. It could be a relationship, a hobby, our peers, or anything.
Take this test to see if your heart is either in the beginning stages of following another god, or you have in fact already allowed something to become your god.
If you neglect one or more of these three things, then you are in danger of letting another god creep into your life.
1. Are you reading God’s Word daily?
2. Are you in church fellowshipping with others?
3. Have you surrounded yourself with Christian friends?
