Acts Chapter 8
Don’t be Surprised!
In Acts 1:8 we read where Jesus told his disciples that they would receive power from the Holy Spirit and as a result the good news of Jesus would be preached in Jerusalem, Judea, Samaria and all the world. In a very short time their preaching went from Jerusalem and into Judea and Samaria. God fulfilled what Jesus said rather quickly and it was done as a result of the church being persecuted.
Satan’s attempt to stop the spreading of Jesus resulted in more and more people getting saved because Christians traveled to escape the persecution from Jerusalem. They traveled to Judea and Samaria and began preaching the Good News of Jesus there.
You never know what God is up to. You never know what he’s going to do. That’s why when things seem to be going “wrong” or “bad” that we need to have faith that God is up to something. He’s in control and preparing for something new. Our hearts need to be open and ready for the Holy Spirit’s next leading. We might be surprised on where he call us and truly surprised on whose lives are impacted for the Kingdom.
CHALLENGE:
Let the Holy Spirit use you where you are today to proclaim the Good News of Jesus. If persecution comes or even something unfortunate not even related to persecution, don’t be dismayed. Don’t be surprised. God is up to something. So be ready for what new thing God has so new and more lives can be impacted for the Kingdom.
