Acts Chapter 7
I’m Willing To Speak The Truth Even If It Means Death.
The Sanhedrin confronted Steven who was being falsely accused by his enemies. They asked if the accusations were true. Steven responds with a mini history sermon explaining how God spoke first through and used Abraham and his descendants. He also spoke of Moses, Joshua, David and Solomon.
Steven spoke eloquently and with much wisdom and up to this point, I bet the Sanhedrin were impressed by his wisdom. But when Steven compared the Sanhedrin to the religious leaders in the Old Testament who murdered the prophets, they became furious!!! They took Steven outside the court and stoned him to death. In his dying moments, Steven asked God to forgive them.
Steven, when confronted, was able to speak wisely of the Scriptures. We too are to be ready to give an account of our faith. 1 Peter 3:15 says, “Always be prepared to give an answer to everyone who asks you to give the reason for the hope that you have [in Jesus]. But do so with gentleness and respect.”
May we also be able to defend our faith when confronted by others. And may we be able to 100% forgive others when they oppose us vehemently.
