Acts Chapter 26
Now This Man Is Committed!
Paul gives his defense before King Agrippa, Festus, Bernice, and other leaders. He said that the Jews who oppose him are opposing what the Old Testament (the books of Moses and the books of the prophets) said would happened: that a man would be born of a virgin, from Judea, be called from Egypt, and bring good news, eventually die and rise from the dead. And the good news would be preached to both Jews and Gentiles.
Festus called him mad and King Agrippa was close to becoming a Christian. After Paul spoke, the men convened together and said Paul has done nothing deserving of death or imprisonment. Yet he had appealed to Caesar and must go before Caesar in Rome.
Paul once was a committed Pharisee who opposed Christ and now is a committed follower of Christ. He’s pursuing the truth of Jesus and proclaiming his truth no matter what happens to him. For those of us who are going to proclaim Christianity, let us be committed to it and proclaim it to others whoever we are directed to. Let us invest our whole lives to it so it affects others at our work, our church, our neighborhood, and even around the world. Are you committed to the way of Jesus? Or is it just mere words from your lips? Are you on fire for the Lord or lukewarm at best? What would you have to do differently to be totally sold out for Jesus?
